Biggest Giveaway? House of Cards Season 5 Trailer
Netflix just uploaded the trailer for Season 5 of House of Cards. If you haven't watched it already, here you go.
In this blog, I will try to address as many segments/scenes from the trailer as I can and I'll keep updating as I find new things worth mentioning.
The first thing that caught my attention was the woman in this photo who's holding the 'Abolish the Electoral College' sign:
That could be a clue to the election result. The most probable case in which someone would hold that sign is if their favorite candidate won the popular vote but lost the electoral college vote. Something identical to what Hilary Clinton's supporters did. If this is true, then it means that Governor Conway won the popular vote but lost the election to President Underwood.
Another possible clue is this screen:
President Underwood needs 15 electoral votes to win the election whereas Governor Conway needs 25. The two states yet to declare a result are Pennsylvania which has 20 electoral votes and Ohio which has 18. Conway needs to win both the states to become President and that's a bit tough. PA being a democrat stronghold-swing-ish state and Ohio being the most important swing state, there's a good chance that Underwood could have 275 seats at the end of the election results.
Honestly, it was shocking to see Underwood with 255 votes. His own party hates him. Conway is a charming young moderate from New York who served in the army. The surprising 255 votes could mean that there's an ongoing crisis in the US and the people will be hesitant to switch presidents during such a time.
The 52 episodes of the first four seasons being a pack of cards will come crashing down in season 5 as predicted by a Reddit user.
Let me know what you think of the trailer and comment with your predictions for Season 5 of this amazing TV series.
